The CAPP training events include traditional models of “peacemaking.”  Values such as respect for self, the circle of life and mother earth are considered.  Leadership skills such as ~ achieving consensus, collaboration, effective communication skills, and alliance building, are introduced as strategies toward resolving conflicts and strengthening relationships!

“We need each other and we don’t know how much we need each other!”

Harold Belmont (Suquamish/Songhees Elder)

All workshops can be tailored to address your needs or particular situation.  We have customized past training events to emphasize cross cultural communication, conflict resolution, alliance building, and cross cultural organizing methods.  We provide strategies for dealing effectively with organizations and multicultural relationships within your families, organizations, schools and communities.

Some workshops are specifically designed for American Indian and First Nations audiences.  These materials are culturally appropriate and relevant to native organizations and communities.

CAPP Coast Salish Indigenous Alliance Initiative on Community Wellness and Climate Change, (CSIAI), seeks to strengthen relationships, and build the capacity and political power of urban Natives, tribal members, and people of color from impacted communities in the Coast Salish Puget Sound region of the Pacific Northwest.  The focus will be to inform the community members about the impacts of fossil fuel energy and develop solutions to deal with the impacts of global warming from a grassroots community-based level.

Local and national Native and non-Native organizations have been building up their organizational and public education capacity through research, lobbying and grassroots organizing efforts.  CAPP intends to work in partnership with local, regional and national organizations, schools and universities to recruit a cadre of young leaders who will be mentored to carry out the programming, facilitation and training events for the Youth and Elder Community Circle events.

Working with our partners CAPP will develop a localized curriculum that will be delivered to community members during community circle events.
